Bayern Munich vs. Sevilla: Preview, Live Stream, TV Info for UCL Match

Bayern Munich are the clear favourites entering the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie with Sevilla, as they’ll defend a 2-1 advantage at home.

The Bavarians locked up the Bundesliga title with a 4-1 win against Augsburg over the weekend and still managed to rest some key starters for this important contest. With the away-goal advantage and in front of their own fans, few doubt the Germans will advance.

Bayern

Robert Lewandowski, Mats Hummels, Javi Martinez, Thiago, Thomas Muller and Franck Ribery were all left out of the starting XI for the 4-1 win ver Augsburg, and while a few of them came off the bench in the title-winning contest, the hosts should be well-rested for Sevilla’s visit.

Arjen Robben and James Rodriguez were the stars, and the latter in particular is expected to shine on Wednesday. His passing ability has really been a factor this season:

Acording to WhoScored.com, David Alaba and Arturo Vidal are both question marks with knocks. The Bavarians showcased their depth in the weekend, however, so even if they don’t recover in time for the match, Bayern should have an easy solution.

With no more distractions in the league, Bayern rank among the favourites to win this year’s Champions League.

Sevilla

If Bayern enjoyed a great outing during the weekend, Sevilla were on the other end of the spectrum, losing 4-0 against Celta Vigo. That result was yet another blow to the team’s European hopes, and they now sit behind both Villarreal and local rivals Real Betis in the La Liga standings.

Sevilla have just one win in their last six matches in all competitions, the 2-1 triumph at Old Trafford over Manchester United. The loss in Galicia may have been the worst result in that run:

Simon Kjaer left the pitch with a knock in that loss and is a doubt for Wednesday, but Ever Banega will return from suspension and give the Andalusians a big boost in midfield.

Their dreadful form, Bayern’s advantage in talent and their two away goals still add up to a nearly impossible task for Sevilla, however.

Prediction

Sevilla’s run has been a good one, and the unexpected win over United will be looked back upon with fondness by their fans, but the European adventure ends here. Bayern complete the job in front of their own fans, and the visitors get to shift their focus to saving their domestic campaign.

Final score: Bayern 3-0 Sevilla
